Words With Friends is an obsession for me. I’ve been playing a wide variety of people on Facebook this week. Some of these people I know, others I don’t. As I constantly play, trying to lay down that epic word for huge points, I developed a habit. I’m not sure if it’s a good one or a bad one, but nonetheless, it’s a habit. I’m super stingy with my “S” tiles. I know it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but in actuality, if you’re smart about the placement, you can rack up some solid points towards the end of your game.
While your opponent is trying to play 2 and 3 tile words with the scraps they have left, you can simply lay down 1 tile and reap the root word and a cool point. If you can keep the point differential close, in the end, you have a great chance of passing your opponent in the last few rounds and snatching some victories that you might not have expected to get. Cherish your “S” as the crown jewel of your rack and they will pay you back, in kind, at the end.
Let’s win
I keep telling people “save your s’s. Don’t waste your s’s”. Never heard anyone else reaffirm it until now. I usually wait until I know it’ll get me a minimum 20 points before I sacrifice my treasured letter.
Yes indeed, the “S” tile is king. I always hold mine until I can use it to make a pre-existing word plural and then have that “S” make the word the word that I lay down plural as well. I just did that tonight, laying down horizontally ZAPS joining at the bottom of a vertical word making it plural, as well. My Z was a triple letter and the S was a triple word square, so it went for both words, for a total of 138, for 4 letters.
i have a “v” tile left at the end of a game. anyone have any suggestions?
